HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN REAL ESTATE?
18 years.
WHERE DID YOU START?
I began my real estate career at the age of 35 as a single mum with no experience. I initially hoped to secure a receptionist role but when that didn’t work out, I started door-knocking local agencies. I was offered an associate role with a highly regarded female agent at Ray White Randwick, and within three months I was generating my own leads. With encouragement from the sales manager, I took the leap to become a standalone agent, and I’ve never looked back.
IS IT YOUR DREAM JOB?
Absolutely. Real estate has allowed me to build a career I’m passionate about while proving that it’s never too late to start again. Every day brings new people and stories, and the work truly impacts lives, that’s what makes it my dream job.
BEST CAREER EXPERIENCE?
Helping a family secure their first home after months of searching and missing out. Guiding them through the process, supporting them emotionally, and handing over the keys reminded me why I love what I do, every sale represents a real story and a life-changing milestone.
WORST CAREER EXPERIENCE?
Early on, I lost a listing because I misjudged a situation due to lack of experience. It was tough, but it pushed me to improve my communication, preparation and systems. It became one of my most valuable lessons.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT REAL ESTATE DURING YOUR CAREER?
That real estate is about people, not property. Every transaction carries emotion, whether it’s a first home, a family upgrade or a downsize. Listening, understanding, and earning trust are just as vital as market knowledge and negotiation.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT YOURSELF DURING YOUR CAREER?
That I’m far more capable and resilient than I ever imagined. Starting again at 35 taught me that courage and consistency can build a whole new life.
HOW HAVE WOMEN’S ROLES IN REAL ESTATE CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?
When I started, women were often in support roles. Today, we’re leading agencies, managing teams, and shaping the industry’s future. There’s greater recognition of women’s strengths - empathy, intuition and perseverance - and how they create genuine connection and trust in this business.
IT’S BEEN A CHALLENGING YEAR, ARE THERE ANY REAL ESTATE TIPS YOU COULD SHARE?
In challenging markets, relationships matter more than results. Stay connected with clients even when you’re not selling to them. Be visible, be helpful, be human, people remember how you made them feel.
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
“It’s never too late to reinvent yourself.” That advice gave me the courage to start a new career at 35, and it changed my life.
ANY REGRETS REGARDING YOUR CAREER?
The only thing I might change is starting sooner. But beginning later gave me perspective and drive, so I see it as part of my strength. No regrets, just gratitude.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER WOMEN WANTING TO START A CAREER IN REAL ESTATE?
Start before you feel ready. Don’t let age, background or circumstance hold you back. You don’t need permission to succeed, just start, stay hungry, and know you belong.
DO YOU HAVE ANY FASHION & BEAUTY TIPS THAT YOU’VE LEARNT WHILE ON THE JOB?
Dress in a way that feels like you. Confidence is the best accessory, and it shows when you feel comfortable and put together. A clean, classic wardrobe with a few signature pieces will take you far.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?
I’m proud of what I’ve built so far, but even more excited for what’s ahead. The industry keeps evolving, and I’m committed to growing, learning and helping more people achieve their property dreams.
