FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Conveyancing

Conveyancing is the legal work carried out by Licensed Conveyancers and Solicitors to transfer property ownership from one person or entity to another.

When should you contact your Licensed Conveyancer or Solicitor

The earlier you make contact the better.

If you are selling a property your Contract must be prepared before the property can be marketed by your real estate agent. If you are buying, it is wise to get in touch with a Licensed Conveyancer or Solicitor prior to attending any inspections so that you have knowledge of the process and understand the costs involved.

How long does conveyancing take?

When selling a property, the Contract can generally be prepared within 5 business days.  The standard settlement period is 6 weeks after contracts have been exchanged.  However, the settlement can be negotiated prior to exchange of contracts.

Do I need to attend settlement?

No, you do not need to attend settlement.  Gately Conveyancing Services will attend to settlement on your behalf.
