HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN REAL ESTATE?

Six years.

WHERE DID YOU START?

Prior to real estate, I worked in a law firm doing conveyancing. After seven years of sitting on that side of the transaction, I decided to make the change to real estate and joined the Benjamin Mulae team where I've been ever since!

IS IT YOUR DREAM JOB?

1000%! I absolutely love my job. Being able to help people with one of the biggest transactions of their life is a true honour. I get a real buzz seeing smiles and happy tears from our impact. 

BEST CAREER EXPERIENCE?

One of my most memorable experiences was helping a client purchase their dream-home off-market. They had been struggling to find what they were looking for, for over two years, with many false starts that were starting to take a toll on their health. My vendors got a great price and were ecstatic not to have to go on the market. This was all because of the relationships and trust that both parties had in me. Off-market deals are particularly rewarding. 

WORST CAREER EXPERIENCE?

I think it was when I went to visit a potential client. We were chatting at the front door when her puppy pushed its way out and escaped down the street.  She blamed me for the pup escaping since I was the reason she opened the door in the first place. I felt terrible so I spent the next 60 minutes chasing the dog up and down the street and coaxing it back using pieces of ham from the lady's fridge. Thank god we got the puppy back safely! 

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT REAL ESTATE DURING YOUR CAREER?

So many things. Perhaps the most important is how to uncover people's needs in real estate and guide them to the best solution for their future. 

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT YOURSELF DURING YOUR CAREER?

Even though I'm known to be a friendly and approachable person, I have surprised myself with how assertive I can be when I am negotiating for my clients. 

HOW HAVE WOMEN’S ROLES IN REAL ESTATE CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?

I'm seeing more high-profile women in real estate than ever before. Go us! 

IT’S BEEN A CHALLENGING YEAR, ARE THERE ANY REAL ESTATE TIPS YOU COULD SHARE?

Trust is the cornerstone of every relationship. This is something that I always have in mind when representing my clients. 

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

Never give up and believe in yourself. Things take time, and if you put in the effort, you will get to where you want to be.

ANY REGRETS REGARDING YOUR CAREER?

Nothing at all. 

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER WOMEN WANTING TO START A CAREER IN REAL ESTATE?

If you are driven, a people person and love helping others, I'd say go for it! You can start by getting yourself qualified by obtaining a Certificate of Registration followed by finding a good team that you want to be a part of and add value to.

 DO YOU HAVE ANY FASHION & BEAUTY TIPS THAT YOU’VE LEARNT WHILE ON THE JOB? Do what you need to do to make yourself feel great. Whether that's wearing something that may be a little different to the norm or wearing a black and white suit. Feeling good on the inside will always show on the outside, which is something your clients will pick up on.
