Scroll to read more about Nadine...

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN REAL ESTATE?

Coming up to two years.

WHERE DID YOU START?

I did some work experience as a selling agent but always knew I wanted to be a buyer’s agent so I started off helping a new agency on the Central Coast with social media. Whenever I got the opportunity to tag along to inspections and meetings, I jumped at the chance so that I could learn the ropes.

IS IT YOUR DREAM JOB?

Absolutely… I’m 45 years old and it’s taken me this long to find my calling, but this is it without a shadow of a doubt!

BEST CAREER EXPERIENCE?

Helping people who are struggling with the process secure a property is always really rewarding, but there was one client who was a single father and first home buyer at 60 years old. He had no time because he was working so hard to support his family. His wife had passed away from cancer and he wanted to buy a house so that his brother and son had somewhere stable to live. The requirements were very specific and we looked at about 30-40 houses, with 2 weeks left on his pre approval things were very tight. We managed to secure him a great house at a great house just in time and I know he wouldn’t have been able to get there without my help. We are still friends to this day, as are many of my clients.

WORST CAREER EXPERIENCE?

There have been some pretty difficult challenges along the way but nothing that I would say was so bad that I’d call it the worst!! I have seen some pretty disgusting houses though, yesterday I saw a pool that was completely green, I would hate to know what was lurking in there…

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT REAL ESTATE DURING YOUR CAREER?

That it’s all about relationships and helping people. Most people in the real estate industry are great, a lot of them get a bad rap, and there are definitely some bad eggs out there but there are in every industry. Most people are just hustling to make a living to give themselves and their families a comfortable life.

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT YOURSELF DURING YOUR CAREER?

That each job I’ve had I’ve given it my all, and it’s lead me to where I am today. Even though they haven’t been in real estate, the skills I’ve learnt from each job and business I’ve had have helped me be successful in my current role. I’ve learnt that what you put in is what you get out, no one is going to give you anything on a silver platter, you have to invest the time into learning and building genuine relationship and trust the process that it will all work out.

HOW HAVE WOMEN’S ROLES IN REAL ESTATE CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?

Well I’ve only been in this industry for 2 years, but what I have noticed is that the women who work in this industry are very strong people. They have had to be to play in a male dominated industry. And a lot of them have had to do it while juggling kids and families at the same time. We are really exceptional creatures being able to do all of that.

IT’S BEEN A CHALLENGING YEAR, ARE THERE ANY REAL ESTATE TIPS YOU COULD SHARE?

Persistence and patience in making sure you don’t rush into something you’re not sure about, but when you find the right property go for it. Ask lots of questions, it’s amazing what people will reveal that could help you.

BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

Trust the process.

ANY REGRETS REGARDING YOUR CAREER? Absolutely not one single thing, only gratitude

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER WOMEN WANTING TO START A CAREER IN REAL ESTATE?

Follow your instincts. If you feel like it’s the industry for you, then get into it. But expect that the first year will be very challenging and you’ll have to get through the times when it feels like nothing is happening and you’ll never make it. Because it’s getting through those times that you’ll find your strength and success.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FASHION & BEAUTY TIPS THAT YOU’VE LEARNT WHILE ON THE JOB?

My previous career was in the fashion industry, but I would never advise anyone on how to dress. For myself, I love expressing myself through fashion and being a bit out there. I’m probably a bit OTT for some people sometimes, but I also like to get a smile or make someone laugh with what I’m wearing. For beauty, I’m a big advocate for aging gracefully and not trying to fight against it but embrace it. I’d rather spend my money on a great pair of shoes than injectables.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?

Yes! If you’re thinking about purchasing property on the Central Coast I’d love to talk to you, feel free to reach out anytime!!
