HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN REAL ESTATE?
Since 2018, when I shifted all my skills and passion into the real estate industry.
WHERE DID YOU START?
I started with my own company, a boutique short-let property management business that focused on luxury holiday homes. Clients began asking for help with buying houses in Sydney, especially expats, and that led me to become a buyers agent. I wound up my business and joined a buyers agency — and I’ve never looked back.
IS IT YOUR DREAM JOB?
100% it is. I have incredible clients, great work relationships and I’m part of an amazing team at Sydney’s leading buyers agency. What else could I ask for?
BEST CAREER EXPERIENCE?
Helping an uncle find a house for his three nieces. The girls were the most lovely, grateful young ladies, and the outcome was something they never would have achieved on their own. The joy in their faces and their hugs after we settled is something I’ll always remember.
WORST CAREER EXPERIENCE?
This industry is no walk in the park. We encounter unpleasant moments and face challenges often, but it’s about dealing with them transparently, with dignity, and moving on. I believe in karma — tough experiences eventually come back around as incredible opportunities.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT REAL ESTATE DURING YOUR CAREER?
Determination and focus will always pay off. Put in the good work, with good ethics, and results will follow.
WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT YOURSELF DURING YOUR CAREER?
That I take nothing home. Business stays in the office and home is a sacred place. I’ve also learnt I’m far more resilient than I ever thought, and I’ve become better at moving on from tough situations quickly. What’s meant to be, will be.
HOW HAVE WOMEN’S ROLES IN REAL ESTATE CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST STARTED?
There are more women in leadership roles and heading networking forums than ever before. Women are extremely well suited to this industry — we have excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
IT’S BEEN A CHALLENGING YEAR, ARE THERE ANY REAL ESTATE TIPS YOU COULD SHARE?
Do your due diligence, stay focused and honest, build strong relationships, and be transparent. Every obstacle can be dealt with simply by starting a conversation — often over a coffee catch-up. Respect goes a long way in this industry.
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
Be modest. No matter how successful you are, remember where you came from and how you got here. Treat people with respect, build strong relationships, and always answer your phone (or call back quickly) — you never know what opportunity may be waiting.
ANY REGRETS REGARDING YOUR CAREER?
None, other than wishing I had started sooner.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER WOMEN WANTING TO START A CAREER IN REAL ESTATE?
Listen and take notes. I’ve been fortunate to have wonderful mentors who showed me how to navigate the industry with dignity and strong values.
DO YOU HAVE ANY FASHION & BEAUTY TIPS THAT YOU’VE LEARNT WHILE ON THE JOB?
Always be presentable. You’re dealing with someone’s largest asset, and it deserves your respect in every way.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE?
Make time for yourself regardless of how busy things get. Mental health is the most important driver of success.
